Cats are known for their clever ways of getting what they want, and Leonard, a fluffy indoor cat from New Jersey, is no exception. When his owners moved away and left him behind, Leonard refused to become a stray. Instead, he came up with a plan to find a new loving home.
Rather than venturing into the unknown outdoors, Leonard decided to stay close to what he knew. He lingered outside the house next door, hoping the neighbors would take notice and take him in. He was determined to keep the comforts of indoor life he had always enjoyed.
Day after day, Leonard patiently waited, hoping someone would notice him. And his persistence paid off! A kind woman named Sara Sharp, the founder of the Community Cat Club, happened to be in the neighborhood,
helping local cats get spayed and neutered. A neighbor told Sara about Leonard’s situation, and she was more than happy to help.
Catching Leonard was easy for Sara, as he was a friendly and trusting cat. She scooped him up and put him in a carrier to take him to the shelter. Leonard was overjoyed, rolling around happily, grateful to finally be rescued.
Apart from being a little dirty and having a small scratch on his face, Leonard was in good health. After a quick check-up and getting neutered, the next step was finding him a forever home – something Leonard was very excited about!
Thanks to Sarama Animal Rescue, another wonderful shelter in New Jersey, Leonard quickly found a foster family.
He loved his new temporary home and followed his foster family around everywhere. He was so sweet and loving that it wasn’t long before something amazing happened.
Only three months after moving in with his foster family, a family from New Jersey saw Leonard’s picture online and instantly fell in love.
They applied to adopt him, and soon enough, Leonard became a permanent member of their family.
Today, Leonard is living the dream, enjoying all the comforts of being an indoor cat. He is happy and healthy, surrounded by a family who adores him – a family who won’t abandon him like his previous owners.
Leonard’s story is a heartwarming reminder that even when things seem difficult, there’s always hope. With a little bit of cleverness and a lot of love, even a lonely cat can find a place to call home.
