From Fearful Kitty to Cuddly Cat – Slater’s Second Chance

From Fearful Kitty to Cuddly Cat – Slater’s Second Chance

It’s heartbreaking to know that many cats are abandoned each year. Some owners just leave them on the street, never considering finding them a new home. This story is about one such cat, who was all alone on a Brooklyn sidewalk.

This scared kitty was found in a carrier, just sitting on a sidewalk in Williamsburg. When the Brooklyn Kitty Committee saw his picture, they knew they had to help. They weren’t sure exactly where he was, so they teamed up with another rescue group called Greenpoint Cats.

.

“This poor cat had been left outside in his carrier for hours,” Greenpoint Cats shared on their social media. “He was so scared, he wouldn’t even come out!”

Imagine how confused and terrified he must have felt, left alone like unwanted furniture. Thankfully, there were good people on the way.

Two volunteers from Greenpoint Cats, Amber and Sawyeh, lived near where the cat was spotted. They rushed to the scene as soon as they heard, and it was clear the cat was in a bad way.

.

“The carrier door was open, but he was too scared to leave,” the shelter continued. “He was just huddled in the corner, soaked and trembling.”

There wasn’t a moment to lose. Amber and Sawyeh took the scared cat straight to the vet. He stayed quiet and still the whole way, hiding deep inside his carrier.

“He’s a young male cat who hasn’t been neutered,” Greenpoint Cats explained. “Sadly, lots of cats get abandoned when they start acting like grown-up cats.”

The vet gave the poor kitty, now named Slater, a thorough checkup and took care of everything he needed, including neutering him. This was the start of his journey to feeling safe and healthy again.

Even though he was scared, Slater was a sweet boy who just wanted love. With gentle chin scratches and delicious food, he slowly began to trust his new friends.

The rescue group shared Slater’s story online, and it wasn’t long before a kind couple offered to be his foster parents. They gave him a safe and loving place to recover at his own pace.

As Slater got used to his new surroundings, he started to relax. He grew closer to his foster family with each passing day, and as his confidence grew, he began to crave attention and cuddles.

In no time, Slater blossomed into a real cuddle monster! He loved to curl up on the couch with his foster parents, purring contentedly. He’d roll on his back between them, showing his trust, and shower them with grateful little kisses.

The couple adored having Slater around. They loved watching him drink water straight from the faucet, and their hearts melted when he’d gently “groom” their hands.

Slater, once abandoned by someone who didn’t see his worth, had been filled with fear and uncertainty. Now, safe in the arms of his new family, he was finally getting the love and happiness he deserved.

It’s clear that Slater has found a place in their hearts, and we can all hope that this beautiful bond will turn into a forever home, filled with a lifetime of love and purrs!
